SPECIALTY FACIAL SERVICES
Dermaplaning (also known as the Scalpel Facial)– is a noninvasive exfoliating skincare treatment that removes about 3-4 weeks of dead skin and Vellus hair (superficial facial hair), brightens skin, allows for better product penetration, and reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike laser and light treatments, which cannot be performed on every skin type, dermaplaning is safe on all the Fitzpatrick skin types. Using a surgical scalpel, dermaplaning will gently scrape away dead skin build up and Vellus hair or “peach fuzz”. The dermaplaning process starts with cleansing your skin and applying a degreaser. Next, your skin will be held taught and the blade will gently scrape back and forth across your skin at a 45 degree angle until all the dead skin and hair is removed. There is no pain associated with the treatment. After, serums and sunscreen will be applied to hydrate and improve texture. You may return to your normal regimen directly after the treatment, but keep in mind that you will probably be a little more sensitive to the products you are using since they will penetrate much quicker.
**Things to Remember: *To prepare for your dermaplaning procedure, we ask that you come to your appointment with a cleansed face. Patients that have active acne or are on medications that sensitize the skin should advise our aesthetician prior to their service. *After a dermaplaning treatment, your skin will be smooth, have a nice glow, and may be slightly pink. There is typically no downtime associated with dermaplaning, but some people may feel a little sensitivity depending on how the skin tolerates the treatment. You may apply makeup after the treatment, but it is typically recommended to wait a few hours before makeup application.
*Good candidates for dermaplaning: -Have superficial facial hair or “peach fuzz” -Have dry or dull skin -Want to exfoliate their skin to allow for better penetration of medical grade skincare products, improved efficacy of light treatments -Have large pores -Have superficial lines + wrinkes -Have blackheads. 45 Minutes
Microdermabrasion– induces small doses of trauma to the skin, stimulating the skin to repair itself towards more youthful, healthier, and rejuvenated skin. Microdermabrasion can be done in a series of treatments, typically 2-4 weeks apart. Microdermabrasion has different effects on each layer of the skin. Microdermabrasion helps to provide a deep exfoliation of the skin and diminish appearance of acne scars, fine lines, unwanted pigmentation, and reduce the size of pores. Tiny crystals are permanently fixed to a microdermabrasion wand that is used to scrape off the outermost epidermal cells called the stratum corneum. The exact pressure used and the number of times that the wand is passed over the skin is determined by the provider. Immediate improvement with skin tone and texture is noticed. It is successfully used on all skin types, including sensitive skin, and it can be used on any skin color without causing discoloration of the skin. This painless exfoliating skin resurfacing requires no downtime and results in youthful, glowing, and rejuvenated skin.
**Enhances skin immune system. Microdermabrasion induces redness, or inflammation in the skin after each treatment. This temporary inflammation promotes healing and repair of the skin. Growth and dilation of blood vessels in the dermis allows growth factors and immune cells to better penetrate the skin Immune cells trigger healing and repair of skin that may be photo-damaged or scarred Growth and dilation of blood vessels in the dermis allows growth factors and immune cells to better penetrate the skin Immune cells trigger healing and repair of skin that may be photo-damaged or scarred
** Expected Results after Microdermabrasion: - -Skin that feels smoother and softer--Cleaner pores that are reduced in size -Improvement in superficial unwanted pigmentation -Brighter and more even complexion ** Good candidates for microdermabrasion -Desire to lighten unwanted pigmentation (age spots, hyperpigmentation) -Want to decrease appearance of fine lines and wrinkles -Want to exfoliate skin -Decrease size of enlarged pores -Want to improve appearance of stretch marks
**How to prepare for your microdermabrasion treatment: We ask that you come to your visit with minimal make-up. If your skin is irritated from a sunburn or topical medications, we may recommended a more gentle treatment the day of your procedure. Microdermabrasion is safe for women that are pregnant and/or breast feeding.
**After microdermabrasion treatments: often, patients describe a tingling sensation, the treated areas may feel as though they are wind burned. Treated areas may swell slightly and remain red for up to twenty-four hours. This is to be expected and the treated areas recover quickly. Your skin will have a fresh and healthy appearance making you look younger and more radiant. 60 Minutes

Light Emitting Diode Facial– What is it? LED light therapy is a popular noninvasive skin treatment for acne, sun damage, wounds, and other skin problems. People can choose to have LED light therapy at a dermatologist’s office or to use a device at home. The treatment uses varying wavelengths of light to trigger the skin’s natural healing processes to repair the skin. Several treatments are necessary to see results. LED stands for light-emitting diode. These lights have been in use since the 1960s, but people have only recently begun to use them as a skin treatment. NASA originally developed LED lights for plant growth experiments in space. However, since then, LEDs have shown promising results in wound healing and human tissue growth. Different wavelengths of light in LED lights, including blue and red, penetrate the skin at different depths. This penetration may trigger biological processes that help the skin rejuvenate and heal.
Red Light: Red, or infrared, light is used for treating the epidermis, which is the outer layer of skin. When the light is applied to your skin, the epidermis absorbs it and then stimulates collagen proteins. In theory, more collagen means that your skin will look smoother and fuller, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Red LED light is also thought to reduce inflammation while improving circulation, which can give you a healthier glow.
Blue Light: Blue LED light therapy, on the other hand, targets the sebaceous glands, which are also called oil glands. They're located beneath your hair follicles. Sebaceous glands are necessary for lubricating your skin and hair so that it doesn’t dry out. However, these glands can become overactive, leading to oily skin and acne. The theory is that blue LED light therapy can target these oil glands and make them less active. In turn, you may see fewer acne breakouts. Blue light can also kill acne-causing bacteria beneath the skin, which can help treat severe acne pimples, including cysts and nodules. Oftentimes, blue LED light is used in conjunction with red LED light to: help treat acne, decrease scarring, and promote anti-inflammatory effects Add on to any facial for $50 15 Minutes

How Does Body Bleaching Work? Despite what the name implies, NO, there is no actual bleach involved. Melanin, a naturally occurring chemical in the body, works to darken skin color as a way to protect it from the rays of the sun. As more and more melanin is produced, the skin eventually darkens. Hydroquinone and other key lightening chemicals reduce the production of melanin in the skin. When applied to a specific area, the skin is thus lightened.
Overall, bleaching agents are only meant to lighten the color of the skin temporarily. In addition, exposure to the ultra violet rays of the sun may potentially re-oxidize the area, leaving the exposed area even darker than before, which is why most fading or skin bleaching products caution against sunlight exposure immediately following the application process, including tanning beds.
Should You or Should You Not Bleach? Just like any other cosmetic or beauty treatment, it is always wise to be aware of the potential risks and determine if they outweigh the benefits before you move forward. During your consultation, your technician will explain the risks, benefits, and alternatives. She will also thoroughly explain post care instructions to ensure you know the best way to care for and maintain your skin.
